Treehouse Log and Post and Beam Home Products |
Timberframing by Treehouse started after we took down a few barns that had been built in the 1800's. We re-erected these barns as homes and were amazed how these carpenters from the 1800's chisled and built these barns. The joints were all mortised and tenoned. There were not any nails, the barns were put together with wood trunnels (pegs). We were able to use some of these pegs in the re-erecting of the barns. Using our designer we will use your idea's in the building of your Timberframe. Your choice of wood could be Oak, Hemlock, Pine or Western Firs. We also have Japanese Fir on request. In our years of building homes around the world we have had the opportunity to have studied Japanese Timberframing at Nikko in guma perfecture and Shirakawa of Fuchishima perfecture. If you get the time to see us in Vermont come and see what these buildings have inspired us to do in 2003. Our Treehouse Timberframing has evolved from just building to Art. Our thanks to Eric Sloane the artist, and Ted Benson the guru of the revival of timberframing. |
